The Airfield, how to find us . . .
 

ACE flight is based at Dunkeswell Aerodrome in Devon.

From the North (Bristol/Taunton/Wellington): From M5 (north or south) turn off at either Junction 26 or 27 to Wellington from the A38 take turn off to Hemyock at the village centre take road past the Catherine Wheel pub (left) and Church (right) signed Dunkeswell,the aerodrome entrance is 2miles on the right

From the South (Exeter/Axminster/Honiton): From A30 follow signs to Honiton the turn off to Dunkeswell is on the same exit/slip road signed A35 which is the east (London) side of Honiton,follow sign to Dunkeswell 4miles continue through the village past the Royal Oak pub (left) and past the Chapel (left) the aerodrome entrance is 250 yds on the left.

When you arrive : From the Aerodrome entrance we are 300 yds on the right, past the 'Air Centre Restaurant' and Devon & Somerset Flying school ,the 'Classic wartime wooden Hut ' is set back on the grass. Parking is on the grass when dry,tarmac if damp.

Wheel chair access is provided by a concrete path. Children welcomed. Dogs welcomed but must be on a lead due to the close proximity of the Aircraft

The History

Dunkeswell airfield was used as a base during WW11 for the United States fleet air wing 7 and RAF personal serving in the only American Navy Airbase commissioned on UK soil during WW11.

There is a memorial museum nearby where more information on the history of the airfield can be found.

With the history of this airfield it is the perfect place to take a trip in our historic bi-plane.

ACE flight is situated in a 1920 style wooden hut with open views and unparalled access to the airfield.

We also have picnic benches outside for your friends and family to watch and enjoy your flight, as well as watching some of the other flying taking place on the airfield.

There is also a built in barbecue that you can use if you wish.
Alternatively there is a bar/restaurant on the airfield.
